The Baritone is the largest member of the ukulele family, and Kamaka’s HF-4 is one of the finest examples currently being made. The HF-4 is tuned DGBE, the same pitches as the top four strings of the guitar. Consequently, it produces the most guitar-like tone and many players think of it as a four string guitar rather than as a big ukulele. The HF-4 offers a smooth, mellow bass response but it still has that characteristic ukulele sparkle in the treble range. Like all Kamaka ukuleles made in 2016, this baritone has an inlay at the end of the fretboard commemorating their 110 years of building some of the finest ukuleles in the world.
Like all new Kamaka instruments, the HF-4 is impeccably crafted. The top, back and sides are solid Hawaiian koa and they have thin satin-sheen finish. This shows the koa grain and color to advantage and is yet another example of how the Kamaka crew keeps raising the bar and making their ukuleles even better. Includes a Kamaka hardshell case.
