2005 Martin HD-28V Steel String Acoustic Guitar Used

Another best-selling model from Martin’s Vintage Series, the HD-28V is essentially an HD-28 but built with a more vintage style “High-X” top bracing, ivoroid binding, diamonds-and-squares inlays, through-cut saddle, and other details from the company’s “Golden Era” of the late 1930s/early ’40s. This model preceded the Authentic Series that we see today. The forward-shifted scalloped X bracing delivers the strongest bass response of any rosewood D in its price range, making the HD-28V perfect for bluegrass, or any style where a dynamic bass presence is an asset.

This guitar is not quite 20 years old yet, but while this HD-28V has the “settled-lacquer” patina of an older guitar, it hasn’t seen a lot of playing hours, and shows almost zero wear from use. Except for the pearly D-45V, this model was the star of Martin’s Vintage Series. The rosewood is dark and tight-grained, and has all power and rumble you hope for in rosewood Martin Dreadnought. There are no cracks or repairs, but a strap button was installed in the heel cap, and later removed and expertly filled with an abalone dot. It comes with its original hardshell case.
