This Deering Maple Blossom was made in California in 1984 and thanks to its high quality construction and parts combined with excellent care there’s no sign of weathering or wear. Although not as ornately inlaid as more costly Deering models, the Maple Blossom was given all the best parts throughout, including a 3-ply maple shell, cast zinc flange and heavy cast bronze flathead tone ring. This banjo has all of its original parts except for the tailpiece which has been upgraded to a Fults tailpiece, which is far more sturdy and offers an almost unlimited range of adjustment. These tailpieces are not cheap and represent a significant upgrade. There’s some light surface wear to the back of the resonator, but fret wear is minimal. A great bluegrass banjo ready for its next assignment.
