Eastman MDO305 Octave Mandolin – New

Maybe you are a mandolinist seeking a lower registered instrument that better complements your voice. Perhaps you are a guitarist looking for an accessible entryway into the mandolin family of instruments. Regardless of which musical road takes you to the octave mandolin, the Eastman MD0305 is an excellent choice for artists who desire a quality hand-crafted instrument and an exceptional price. Featuring the timeless combination of a Solid Spruce top and Solid Maple Back and sides, the MD0305 delivers a sound that is loud, clear, and resonant. While it has f-styled sound holes like its smaller companion, the combination of the large body and scale length gives it a jangly, sweet tone that isn’t quite as percussive as a regular-sized mandolin. Traditionally, the octave mandolin hasn’t had a well-defined role in a bluegrass ensemble, but this latest generation of bluegrass and Americana artists have been re-defining the limits of the instrument and broadening the horizons of an instrument once relegated to a minor role in a mandolin orchestra. The sound of the MDO305 is uniquely suited to help keep this spirit of innovation alive!
